Current Top 3 Drugstore Foundations

Hello Beautys!

Today I wanted to talk about my current favorite drugstore foundation. I honestly am a drugstore foundation kind of gal. I haven’t found a high end foundation that I would use religiously instead of my drugstore foundation. So, I though it would be a good idea to blog about my top 3 current favorite foundation. I say current because depending how my skin is feeling and the weather it might change. During the summer my combination skin is extra dewy, so I do like to go with a matte finish usually. I also prefer liquid foundation to powder, just because I feel like it gives me better coverage and I am able to build on it easily.

One thing to note  about drugstore foundations is that it is a little difficult to find your shade since there are not many testers. When trying to match your foundation know what the undertone of your skin is. The different skin undertones are Cool (pink, red or bluish undertones) Warm (yellow or golden undertones) Neutral (a mix of warm and cool undertones). I am a warm undertone so usually immediately gravitate to yellow or golden based colours. I also match my neck since my face shade varies from my body shade and this helps me not look flawless and not cakey.

I picked the following three based on coverage, long lasting and application. Now, lets get started!

Maybelline Fit Me (Original and Matte)

I believe there is 3 different version of the liquid Fit Me foundation, the original, the Matte + Poreless and The Dewy + Smooth. I own the original and matte version, since I think I have enough dew to my skin. I really like the coverage this foundation provides. It is medium to full coverage. The original is extremely dewy and liquidy so it is best used with a foundation or a stippling brush. The matte version doesn’t dry to a complete matte finish it is more on the satin matte side. If I am using this foundation I will prime my skin with a mattifying primer and set with a powder always. The bottle it self is a pain.. Since it is just open without a pump I always end up spilling it being the klutz that I am. My colour in this foundation is 220. I must note that I do prefer the Fit Me Matte + Poreless a lot more than the regular, again this is because my skin is combination to oily and it just works better for me. If you like to multipurpose your products this would one the best foundation to turn into a BB cream. How? Just add a little bit of the foundation to your favorite moisturizer.  This will give your skin a nice glowy finish with light coverage and the added benefits of your moisturizer. Yeah.. Your welcome.

The price is around $9-$13 for 1oz (30 ml)

Revlon Photoready Airbrush Effect Foundation

This foundation is often looked over and I don’t know how. It’s amazing! It is full coverage with an airbrush (hence the name) matte finish! It is a liquid, moose, unicorn consistency so it is best applied with a beauty blender or a stippling brush to avoid streaking. If it is drying to fast for you, just apply the foundation in sections. I really like the coverage it provides. I usually use a primer and highlight my under eye before  going in with this foundation so everything is blended to perfection. I also like to set this foundation using a setting spray instead of a powder to avoid it looking cakey and clinging onto my dry spots. This is one of those foundations I wear and when I see my reflection I’m like dang my skin on point today. This foundation also helps your other makeup (blush, bronzer, etc) to adhere better. This is best for combination to oily skin. It also last all day with little to no touch up, so it perfect for events without a flashback effect. I would also shake this foundation before pumping out the product. My colour in this foundation varies depended how tan I am from 005 to 008. Sometimes I mix the colours to customize it.

The price is around $15-$18 for  1oz (30ml)

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

This is the foundation that everyone is raving about, and for good reason! L’Oreal’s team basically bottled up perfection and called it Infallible Pro Matte Foundation. If you are looking for a new foundation to try I would definitely look into this one. It is full coverage and dries to an almost matte finish. I use a cream primer and set this with a powder only in my T-Zone (that’s where I get oily the most) This is super long lasting and photographs really well. Every time I wear this I feel that my skin looks flawless, my makeup looks just as good at the beginning of my work day as it does at the end. It requires little to no touch up depending on the environment you are in. It is also really light weight and works well with so many types of skin. If you are on the dryer side, just make sure to moisturize and put on a hydrating primer before the foundation. I also like the packaging of this it comes in a tube, I normally put the product directly on my face and blend it out with a synthetic foundation or stippling brush. My colour in this foundation is 108.

The price is around  $15-$18 for 1oz (30ml)
